How to report a bug

Write what you did, what happened and what should have happened. Add the app version (More → About) and the phone model. If you attach a screenshot with a sensitive species, cover the position and the site name. Send a backup file by e-mail only, never on Discord.

Questions and answers

Where is my data? On the phone, in the app’s storage. We have no server with your journal. Your phone’s backup (iCloud or Google) may include it if you turned it on.

How do I back up and restore? Settings → Data → “Backup” saves a zip file wherever you choose (Files, a cloud drive, e-mail). “Restore from backup” adds what the journal lacks from the file; it overwrites nothing. Before restoring on a new phone, back up what is already on it.

Does the map work offline? The parts of the map you have looked at stay on the phone. Download the area you are going to in advance: Map → the download icon → mark the area → Download. It then works in airplane mode.

Why does the app want my location? To save the position of a sighting and to show you on the map. It reads it only when saving, on request and while the map is on screen; no background tracking. Without the permission everything works, just without a position.

How do I change the language? The app speaks Polish and English and follows the phone’s language (or the app language set in the system).

Reminders do not arrive. Check the notification permission in the system settings and the reminder time in Settings → Reminders.
