What’s new

• On iPhone the location permission prompt has new wording: “Leszy needs your position to save where you saw something and to show the position on the map.”

• “Restore from backup”: choose a backup file, check what will be added and tap “Restore”. It adds what is missing on the phone; it overwrites or deletes nothing.
• After a camera trap or a period with reminders is restored, Leszy may ask for permission to send notifications.

Fixed

• Android system backups omit the map cache and downloaded areas, leaving more room for the journal.

• “More” → “Field ethics”: a page of tips from one photographer to another: distance, playback, baiting and feeding, flash at night, nests and burrows in the breeding season, mating season, winter, breaks, places, zones and signs, camera traps. In English on a phone set to English.

• On iPhone Leszy follows the phone’s language: English when the phone (or the app language under Settings → Leszy → Language) is English; Polish as before. The system location prompt is in the phone’s language too.
• Times are always 24-hour, in English as well, including the time picker.
• English dates read day/month/year (“22/09/2026”) regardless of the phone’s region.
• “Tryb zasiadki” (called night mode or sit mode in earlier notes) is now “Stakeout” in “Settings” and the top bar.

Sites

• The automatic site name in English reads “Site 22/09, 08:15” (Polish unchanged: “Miejsce 22.09, 08:15”).

Journal

• Under the search field (magnifier) there is a row of filters: „Ptaki” (birds), „Ssaki” (mammals), „Gatunek” (species), „Miejscówka” (site), „Daty” (dates). Filters combine with each other and with the typed text; with several species chosen, any one of them counts.
• A set filter shows its value on the chip; tapping it reopens the choice, ✕ removes it; „Wyczyść” (clear) at the end of the row removes them all.
• Closing the search (the magnifier in the top bar) clears the text and the filters; the ✕ in the field clears the text only and appears once there is text.
• When nothing matches: „Nic nie pasuje do filtrów” (nothing matches the filters; filters alone) or „Brak wyników” (no results; text and filters) and a „Wyczyść filtry” (clear filters) button.

Notebook

• The same row of filters without „Ptaki” and „Ssaki”: „Gatunek” and „Miejscówka” by the note’s links, „Daty” by the note’s creation date.
• Changing a filter ends the note selection, as changing the text does.

Appearance

• The date-range window in Tryb zasiadki is black and red.

Fixed

• The empty screen at a larger text size with the keyboard open scrolls instead of running off the screen.

Settings

• „Więcej” → „O aplikacji” → „Co nowego” (More → About → What’s new): the list of app releases, newest first, with the version number, the date and what changed; works without internet.
• The list covers every release since 0.4.0; the notes are in Polish, and in English on a phone set to English.

Calendar

• An open period detail moves on with the date past midnight: the state line („za 1 dzień”, „zaczyna się dziś”, „trwa” = in 1 day, starts today, ongoing), the „dziś” (today) line on the year strip and this occurrence’s observations update by themselves, also when you come back to the app.
• The reminder dates on the period detail jump to the next date once the reminder hour has passed, and when you come back to the app.

Camera traps

• The day counts to the next check („Kontrola za N dni”, the „Fotopułapki” row in „Więcej”, the overview) recalculate after midnight and when you come back to the app, without reopening the screen.

Calendar

• The empty „Kalendarz” (Calendar) shows a new Kurpie paper cut: a pair of stags over a young tree. Before, the owl from „Dziennik” (Journal) was there.
• Under the last section of the list in „Kalendarz” there is the same pair of stags. With the „Dzwonek” (bell), „Ptaki”, „Ssaki”, „Inne” filters and in the „Miesiąc” (month) view it is not shown.
• Tapping the stags opens the entry „Wycinanka kurpiowska” in „Gawęda”.

Fixed

• With a larger font the title „Kalendarz” is no longer cut off; the „Lista” / „Miesiąc” switch then moves under the title and does not change its place when moving between months.
• With the normal font the „Lista” / „Miesiąc” switch is a little narrower, and „Październik 2026” fits whole beside it.
• An expanded „Minione” (past) section no longer collapses by itself after the list is scrolled far up and back.

Notebook

• The empty „Notatnik” (Notebook) shows a new Kurpie paper cut: the leluja, a tree with two roosters. Before, the Rozsocha beekeeper’s mark was there.
• Under the last note in „Notatnik” there is the same leluja. While searching and while selecting notes it is not shown.
• Tapping the leluja opens the new entry „Leluja” in „Gawęda”, with a description and sources.

Gawęda

• A new entry „Leluja” on the list.

Journal

• Under the last entry in „Dziennik” (Journal) there is the owl, the same Kurpie paper cut that until now showed only in an empty „Dziennik”. Tapping the owl opens its description in „Gawęda”.
• While searching, the owl is not shown; it comes back when the search is cleared.
• The list ends above the add button, the last entry does not hide under it.

Sites

• In the site detail the species’ season is shown on a year strip, as the periods in „Kalendarz” (Calendar): the months with sightings as a bar, the days with sightings as ticks, today as a vertical line. The twelve fields with month numbers are gone.
• Above the species list there is a legend for the strip: „sezon” (season), „stwierdzenia” (sightings), „dziś” (today).
• The „dziś” line on the strips moves on after midnight and when you come back to the app.

Fixed

• The iPhone app installs from TestFlight again. This is the first iPhone release since version 0.8.0, so it brings everything from the versions in between: offline areas on the map („Pobierz obszar”, Download area; Settings → „Obszary offline”, Offline areas), the camera trap checklist at „Sprawdzono” (Checked) and the „Osobnik” (Individual) field on a sighting.

Journal

• A sighting has a new field „Osobnik” (individual): under the behaviors a „+ Osobnik” button, then a text field (up to 100 characters) and suggestions from this species’ earlier individuals; tapping a suggestion fills the field.
• The observation row shows the individual after the count, in italics; the observation detail shows an „osobnik: …” (individual: …) line.
• The Journal search also finds the individual; the search field hint reads „Gatunek, osobnik, komentarz” (Species, individual, comment).

Sites

• „Gatunki na tej miejscówce” (Species at this site) shows „osobnik ostatnio: …” (last individual: …) for a species that had one.
• A shared site includes the individuals; an older app version reads such a file without them.

Camera traps

• Every camera trap now has a checklist: „Poziom baterii” (battery level), „Miejsce na karcie” (card space), „Obiektyw czysty” (lens clean), „Kąt i wysokość” (angle and height), „Test wyzwalania” (trigger test), „Mocowanie” (mounting). Existing camera traps get it after the update.
• The camera trap sheet has a „Lista kontrolna” (Checklist) section: add, rename, remove and drag items (up to 30).
• „Sprawdzono” (Checked) shows the items to tick and a „Zaznacz wszystko” (Tick all) button; the check remembers what was ticked. Items skipped at the last check carry „ostatnio nie sprawdzono” (not checked last time).
• The camera trap row (site and Więcej → Fotopułapki) shows „Ostatnio pominięto: …” (Skipped last time: …) from the last check; the checks list shows a counter such as „5 z 7” (5 of 7).
• The camera trap and check sheets close only through „Anuluj” (Cancel) or the back button (not by a swipe down); with unsaved changes they ask „Odrzucić zmiany?” (Discard changes?). The „Zapisz” (Save) button is always visible at the bottom of the sheet.
• A shared site includes the checklists and the ticks; an older app version reads such a file without them.
• Sharing a site file that is too large ends with „Plik jest za duży do udostępnienia” (The file is too large to share).

Fixed

• In Tryb zasiadki (night mode) the camera trap icon is no longer white, and dialogs have a background and an edge.

Map

• In the “Pobierz obszar” (Download area) panel, the field “Szukaj obszaru” (Search area): type a name (e.g. “Puszcza Białowieska”, a national park, a reserve, a gmina), pick it from the list and the frame snaps to the area’s extent; works without a network.
• The area’s kind shows next to its name (national park, Natura 2000, mezoregion, reserve, gmina…).
• A hand-framed area gets a name hint from where it lies (e.g. “gmina Białowieża”); the name can be changed.

Settings

• “Licencje i źródła” (Licenses and sources): a new section “Obszary nazwane” (Named areas) with the data sources.
• The delete dialog of an offline area says what will leave the phone.

Map

• A new “Pobierz obszar” (Download area) button on the map: frame a rectangle with the handles, name it, see the estimated size and download the map with imagery for use without a network.
• The switch “Zdjęcia szczegółowe” (Detailed imagery) in the download panel: sharper imagery up close at the cost of space.
• The download runs in the background; a card above the map shows the progress and a pause button; an interrupted download can be finished later.
• Imagery outside Poland is not downloaded for now (an area beyond the border gets the map and the imagery within Poland).

Settings

• A new row “Obszary offline” (Offline areas) in the “Mapa” (Map) group: the list of saved areas with size and date, “Dokończ” (Finish), delete, “Pobierz nowy obszar” (Download a new area).

Calendar

• In the period form the peak dates („Szczyt (opcjonalnie)”, Peak, optional) look the same as the period’s dates: two fields side by side, „od 15 wrz” and „do 15 paź”; an unset day shows „wybierz” (pick).

Calendar

• A period can carry several species. In the period form the „Gatunki (opcjonalnie)” (Species, optional) row shows the picked species as chips with „×”, and the „Dodaj” (Add) chip opens the species list with multi-select: checkboxes by the names, „Żadne” (None) and a „N wybrane” (N selected) count under the search, a „Gotowe” (Done) button.
• In the period detail the species sit in one line with the group dot and the name; tapping a name opens „Dziennik” (Journal) with that species; „Twoje obserwacje w tym okresie” (Your observations in this period) counts observations of any of those species.
• The „Ptaki” / „Ssaki” / „Inne” (Birds / Mammals / Other) filters show a period when any of its species belongs to the group.
• In the period form the „od” and „do” (from, to) dates sit in one row side by side, in the short form („od 1 wrz”, „do 31 paź”).
• In the „Miesiąc” (Month) view every period is one bar with one name; the peak is a green line along the bottom of the bar on the peak days (no label), the legend shows the difference. A one-day date has a border in the bar’s colour.
• Existing periods with one species keep it after the update.

Appearance

• In Tryb zasiadki (sit mode) greyed-out elements (e.g. the neighbouring months’ days) are now dimmed in red, not beige.

Calendar

• A new „Miesiąc” (Month) view beside „Lista” (List), a switch at the top next to the title: a month grid where every period runs as a continuous bar with its name across its days, the peak in a lighter colour with „· szczyt” (peak); a one-day date is a sand pill with its name.
• Tapping a day shows under the grid what runs then (the names in one line); tapping a name opens the period’s detail.
• A sideways swipe changes the month; the month name is the screen’s title.
• Today has a filled circle; when more periods run in a week than fit in three rows, „+n” appears in the week’s corner.
• The filters (including „Dzwonek”, Bell) and the legend work the same in both views; the year strip on „Lista” now uses the same colours as the bars in „Miesiąc”.
• After midnight and after returning to the app, „dziś” (today) moves by itself in both views.

Calendar

• Every period or date can carry reminders: „w dniu startu” (on the start day), „1 dzień przed” (1 day before), „3 dni przed”, „7 dni przed”, „14 dni przed”, „30 dni przed” (3, 7, 14, 30 days before) or „własna liczba dni…” (a custom number of days, 1 to 365). They are ticked in the period detail under „Przypomnienia” (Reminders) or in the form (a short list and „więcej…”, more).
• Each ticked reminder shows the date of its next notification.
• The notification reads „Zbliża się: <period name>” (Coming up) and „za N dni” (in N days) or „dziś” (today); tapping it opens the period detail.
• The notification time is shared with camera traps: the „o 09:00” (at 09:00) row leads to „Ustawienia” → „Przypomnienia” (Settings → Reminders).
• In the calendar list every row has a bell (filled when a reminder is set), and the „Dzwonek” (Bell) filter shows only periods with a reminder.
• The first reminder you turn on asks for the phone’s notification permission. After a refusal the period detail shows a bar „Powiadomienia są wyłączone: włączysz je w ustawieniach telefonu” (Notifications are off: turn them on in the phone’s settings) with a „Włącz” (Turn on) button.

Camera traps

• The bar about notifications being off now looks the same as in the calendar, with a „Włącz” (Turn on) button.

Calendar

• The „Kalendarz” (Calendar) tab works: add your own period (a date range) or a one-day date with a name and a note, yearly or one-off, with an optional peak, a species and a site.
• The list shows what is on now, what is coming soon and what comes later in the year; each entry has a year strip marking its period, peak and today; filters „Wszystkie” (all), „Ptaki” (birds), „Ssaki” (mammals), „Inne” (other).
• An entry’s detail shows the dates in words, how many days are left, the note and „Twoje obserwacje w tym okresie” (your observations in this period) with a link into the Journal („pokaż w Dzienniku”).
• Past one-off entries go to a collapsible „Minione” (past) section.
• Reminders for entries come in the next version.

Sites

• A site’s screen has a „Terminy” (dates) section with the calendar entries pinned to that site.

Notebook

• The empty Notebook has a „Dodaj pierwszą notatkę” (add your first note) button.

Appearance

• On the empty Journal and the empty Calendar the add button is outlined; only the round „+” stays rust.

• Pins and clusters are easier to hit: a tap just beside one counts, gloves too.
• A site’s full name is its first row; tap it to rename.
• A blank name shows “Enter a name” and Save stays off.
• No empty “Notatki” heading when a site has no notes.

Sites

• A long press on the map → „Utwórz miejscówkę” (Create site) opens a „Nowa miejscówka” (New site) form: name, type, comment and a „Zapisz” (Save) button, as for observations and notes.

Map

• „Mapa” tab (Map): a map with your sites, GPS position tracking, and „Przybliż” and „Oddal” buttons (Zoom in, Zoom out).
• Three layers: „Hybryda” (Hybrid: aerial photos with roads and place names), „Teren” (Terrain) and „Satelita” (Satellite).
• The map covers all of Europe.
• Long press on the map: „Nowa miejscówka” → „Utwórz miejscówkę” (New site → Create site) at that spot.
• In „Tryb zasiadki” (Sit mode) the map and the GPS position dot are red; nothing on the map is white.
• Map sources behind the „i” button; when they open by themselves, they close after 1 second.
• „Więcej” → „Ustawienia” → „Pamięć mapy” (More → Settings → Map memory): how much space the map takes on the phone; „Wyczyść cache mapy” (Clear map cache).

Journal

• Observations in month sections. A long press on a heading shows the month’s Old Polish name.
• Tapping an observation’s GPS position opens the map centered on that spot.

Sites

• Every observation with a GPS position belongs to a site.
• The map shows sites with their number of observations.
• After the update, existing observations will be assigned to sites. On first launch a list to review will appear.
• When saving an observation: „Gdzie to było?” (Where was it?), choosing a nearby site or a new one.
• Site screen: name, type, comment, observations and notes.
• On the site screen: copying the GPS position, „Otwórz w Mapach” (Open in Maps), merging sites and deleting an empty site.
• Species at a site: a rating of the place in words, the last sighting, the hours of highest activity and the months.
• Sharing a site as a file and importing it with a preview.
• Importing pins from Google Maps (a Google Takeout export).

Camera traps

• Camera traps at sites: adding, editing and taking a trap down, with undo.
• „Sprawdzono” (Checked): records a check, including whether the batteries and the SD card were changed.

Appearance

• „Tryb zasiadki” (Sit mode) replaces two options, „Tryb ciemny” (Dark mode) and „Czerwona poświata” (Red tint): red text on black, no vibration. The moon button at the top of the screen or a switch in Settings turns it on.
• After the update, dark mode with the red tint opens as Sit mode, and dark mode alone as the normal look.
• Sit mode turns on and off at once, with no flash of icons and no fading text.
• The „Leszy” skin is now called „Borowy”.
• A new font throughout the app.
